– 325 g shredded mozarella cheese (or same ammount as balkan cheese pack)
– 1 egg
– 1 pack pastry sheets (triangle or other, usually comes in 24 pieces)
– 1 tbsp flour
– vegetable oil for frying
These cheese rolls are best prepared in advance and frozen. They can stay on hand and fried directly from the freezer in just a few minutes.
The Preparation
1. Remove the pastry sheets from the fridge and let the thaw slightly.
2. In a bowl, mix the cheeses and the egg together with a fork.
3. In a small bowl, mix the flour and water to form a sticky paste.
4. Pour some vegetable oil into another small bowl.
5. Prepare and emty tray and cover it with a damp towel to keep the finished rolls from drying out.
6. Carefully open the package of pastry sheets and remove one sheet, keeping the remaining sheets cover with another damp towel.
7. Brush the sheet with vegetable oil. Place 1-1,5 heaping spoons of the cheese mixture along the bottom edge, tuck the sides, then roll it up. Seal the tip with little of the flour paste to keep it closed.
8. Place the finished roll on the prepared tray and cover with the damp cloth.
9. Repeat until the pastry sheets have all been used.
10. Freeze the rolls.
The Frying
1. Heat enough vegetable oil in a frying pan to cover the bottom.
2. Place the flozen cheese roll directly into the hot oil and fry until the underside is golden.
3. Turn the rolls over and fry the other side until golden brown.
Serve hot while the cheese is still melted.
